I'm sure you know this but there is a preamp tube still in the valvestate amps, although it sounds like Billly is just using the power amp portion. To quote the Marshall website: "To add even more fire power to an already lethal drive circuit, the boost channel pre-amp in all Valvestate amps over 20 Watts is loaded with a single ECC83 (12AX7) valve. " I've got the vs65r combo but I'm surprised that is passes muster with the Rev. I'm not happy with it…

I did a little digging and found out he does use Valvestates also, but pretty much as power amps.
