Zep x 75% + Kennedy = Tour?

According to Gibson.com via this gossip blog, Led Zep may tour minus, without, not including — Robert Plant. Plant’s replacement may be Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge.

What?!

Hoax? Tough to say right now, but the gossip site has vid of Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider — his manager also works with Robert Plant — talking about it.

Still doesn’t mean it’s not a hoax. But if not, I have to ask the following questions:

1. Why on earth would Led Zep (or LZ * 0.75) tour without Robert Plant? Are those guys really that hurting for money or adulation? That would be like Aerosmith touring without Steven Tyler.

2. Would you tell a secret to Dee Snider?

For his part, Plant had this to say (in the third person) via his official website. These excerpts are from a post dated Sept. 29:

“Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said. “I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects.”

Here’s a clip of Kennedy — the vid can’t be embedded. The footage is live, but not the audio. He can sing, but it doesn’t sound Plant-like to me:

Maybe Zep x 0.75 should check YouTube for the best Zep cover singer?
